15 Feb 1884

As yet no assistance has been given in school except such as afforded by the elder children. The Infants have been kept in the schoolroom with the elder boys and girls by whom they are chiefly taught as it is impossible to leave the standards to work by themselves.

No list of lessons for Infants has been entered in the Log Book before, because as there has been no assistance it has been found impossible to give them. The following list is intended to be given.

Lessons for Infants

1. Bells 2. Number Six 3. Slate 4. The Camel
5. An Orange 6. Colour Green 7. The Horse 8. Coal
9. Sugar 10. Spring 11. Form (Square, Triangle, Oblong) 12. The Sheep
13. An Egg 14. Glass 15. Colour Blue 16. Tea
17. Leather 18. Silver 19. Elephant 20. Salt.

[I wonder what a lesson on ‘An Orange’ would be like?]
